Peter Malnati’s two trips to the Butterfield Bermuda Championship have been fairly successful.

The University of Missouri alum finished T-21st (63-74-70-70) at Port Royal Golf Club in 2020 and improved to T-7th (70-65-67-71) in 2021.

He was fifth in the field last year in scrambling (77.27%), T-19th in putts per green in regulation (1.68), and T-20th in GIR (69.44%). In 2020, his opening 63 tied for the low round of the tournament.

Malnati is known as a friendly, easy-going guy. He seems to like the similar vibes felt in Bermuda.

“Yeah, what an amazing place this is,” Malnati was transcribed by Tee Scripts in 2021.

"“You can just tell that — yesterday I played in the pro-am with four locals and there’s just a demeanor here on the island of calmness and it’s a relaxed nature. It’s obviously visually stunning, gorgeous, beautiful, but it seems to have a nice spirit to it. I love it and I’m very comfortable.”"

Malnati finished 92nd in the FedEx Cup and retained his card for 2022-23. Last season featured a pair of top-10s and T-11th at the 3M Open.

Early in this campaign, the 33-year-old made one cut in two tries, taking T-45th at the Sanderson Farms Championship, the site of his lone PGA Tour win.

He also was eligible to compete in the ZOZO Championship where he took T-72nd.

Malnati ranked 41st last season in birdie average (3.93) and 55th in strokes gained per round around the green (.167).

He’s not a long-hitter. That can be detrimental most weeks on tour, but not in Bermuda.
