2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship: Top 10 Power Rankings
Mark Hubbard got paid in both Butterfield Bermuda Championship appearances.
In 2019, he recorded 70-67-68-72 to finish T-41st. Not the most spectacular result, but going all four days at a wind-swept course without a round above 72 is not easy.
After skipping in 2020, Hubbard returned to take T-22nd in 2021 with 74-63-69-71. He had that dreaded high round on Thursday, but he bounced back to tie the low round of the tournament the next day. Hubbard didn’t make a double bogey or worse all week.
His recent form is some of the best in the field. Hubbard has made all three cuts to open the 2022-23 PGA Tour season. That includes T-21st at the Fortinet Championship, T-5th at the Sanderson Farms Championship, and T-28th at the Shriners Children’s Open.
Hubbard comes in off of a week of rest after taking 66th at the ZOZO Championship.
Last season, he played some on the Korn Ferry Tour but mostly on the PGA Tour. He did most of his damage in a two-week span, taking third at the Barbasol Championship and fourth at the Barracuda Championship.
He’ll hope to keep the success going in tournaments starting with a ‘B’ this week.
The San Jose State alum ranked 20th on the PGA Tour last season in strokes gained per round approach (.494).
A lack of distance won’t hurt him this week, but an accurate driver (55th, 62.78%) certainly will.
He was also 35th in greens in regulation (68.3%) and quietly was 34th in scoring average (70.284).
