We saw some flashes in 2022 of the caliber of player Nick Hardy can be.

He was an elite collegiate player at Illinois but injuries and some inconsistent form have made for an up-and-down first handful of years as a pro.

Hardy appears to be trending up. He graduated from the Korn Ferry Tour in 2021 but got off to a slow start to the 2021-22 PGA Tour season. A wrist injury in the spring didn’t help, either.

Hardy dropped down last summer to play on the KFT and it paid off. A solo second at the NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank propelled him to six straight top-35 finishes on the PGA Tour.

That span included T-14th at the U.S. Open where he was in the mix for 54 holes.

Last season, Hardy ranked 32nd on the PGA Tour in strokes gained per round off the tee (.386) and 61st in SG putting (.175). He was also 25th in greens in regulation (68.74%).

Hardy is off to a nice start to the 2022-23 season. He’s 3-for-3 making the cut and contended for his first PGA Tour title where he took T-5th at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Hardy was just four shots off the pace. It was his highest-ever PGA Tour finish.

The 26-year-old is making his second Butterfield Bermuda Championship appearance. Last year, he missed the cut by one. A 75 was a tough debut, but a Friday 68 left him just one off the cut line.

I like him to avoid the big numbers like last year and vie for a new high finish on the PGA Tour.
