This week, the PGA Tour travels to Riviera Country Club for the 2023 Genesis Invitational. Let’s take a look at this week’s prestigious tournament from a fantasy golf perspective.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
*It should be noted that this will be the third year that the Genesis will have invitational status. With this event now carrying the invitational designation the field will be limited to just 120 golfers. This is in direct contrast to most tournaments on the PGA Tour that have up to 156 golfers in the field.
Now, let’s shift our focus to my favorite DFS/fantasy golf player selections for Riviera.
Here are my fantasy golf selections for the 2023 Genesis Invitational!
Rickie Fowler arrives at this week’s PGA Tour event on the heels of two consecutive top-11 finishes, including a tenth-place result at last week’s 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Genesis Invitational field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Rickie Fowler ranks second in birdie or better percentage, second in strokes gained approach, and first in three-putt avoidance.
Rickie Fowler finished 20th at the 2022 Genesis Invitational. Having stated that, I fully expect Rickie to post a much better result at this year’s event.
Taylor Moore has accumulated three consecutive top-15 finishes on the PGA Tour, including an 11th-place finish at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open three weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Genesis Invitational field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Taylor Moore ranks sixth in strokes gained approach, fourth in proximity to the hole, tenth in three-putt avoidance, and 12th in strokes gained off the tee.
Taylor Moore finished 21st at the 2022 Genesis Invitational.
The 29-year-old American fired a final round 69 at last week’s 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open en route to an eventual tenth-place result.
Due to the fact that Wyndham Clark played so well at the 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open, I decided to take a hard look at Clark’s statistics relative to the field.
After four rounds of competitive play at the 2023 Waste Management Phoenix Open, relative to the field, Wyndham Clark ranked third in putts per GIR (1.538) and ninth in bogey avoidance (6).
Additional golfers I like this week: Jon Rahm: Jordan Spieth: Justin Thomas: Sungjae Im: Nick Taylor.
