Despite not ‘calling bank’ on Friday; Jon Rahm was gifted one of the most bizarre eagles you will see all season.

Jon Rahm can thank an unlikely suspect for his late second-round eagle at the 2023 Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in California on Friday.

Jon Rahm approached the 604 yard par-5 with a seven wood, which drifted far right and left him anticipating a tough up and down. Instead, he received an unlikely assist from the grandstand as his ball ricocheted off the side and settled 3 feet 8 inches from the hole, setting him up for his second eagle of the day.

Look out! Jon Rahm catches an incredible break at Riviera on Friday

Jon Rahm’s reaction to the lucky eagle opportunity was one of bewilderment as he hung his head and laughed in disbelief.

The lucky break put Rahm tied for the lead with Max Homa at 10-under par, but a bogey on the par-4 18th left him at 3-under for the day as he followed up his round one 65 with a 68 on Friday.

Jon currently sits at -9 for the tournament.

Play at the 2023 Genesis Invitational was suspended for the day but Jon can anticipate entering round three tied for second place. Less determined is whether or not he can count on any more dimes from inanimate objects tomorrow.
