Have A Masters Party with Authentic Augusta National Food and Drinks
It’s never too early to talk Masters! But we’re talking an authentic Masters party!
Seriously. Now any of us can have one, even if we can’t get to the course for the tournament.
How authentic? At least part of it, 100 percent. We’re talking Pimento Cheese, Egg Salad, and Pork Bar-B-Que sandwich fixings. Masters cookies. Masters drink cups. You cannot go wrong with this as a basis for your Masters viewing.
All these goodies come packaged in what the folks at Augusta National are calling ‘Taste of The Masters’ Hosting Kit. It’s delivered to your door. That’s right. Or as Verne Lunquist might have said when Tiger made a putt, ”YesSIR!”
Included in the Masters party-to-go are 24 oz. tubs of Egg Salad, Pimento Cheese Spread, and Pork Bar-B-Que. Supposedly, the kit serves 12-14 guests. In addition to the sandwich spreads, there are 12 bags of potato chips, six regular and six Bar-B-Que.

Not to forget the dessert, the Masters packs 12 cookies, individually wrapped. Possibly chocolate chip. (At least that’s what my email showed in the picture.)
They have left no stone unturned in their efforts to provide the ‘just like being there’ experience. There is branded wax paper to wrap sandwiches (sleeve of 12 sheets). There are 12 themed Coasters. There are little, yellow, Masters-flagged, sandwich toothpicks.
But what could be the bonanza is the sleeve of 25 branded souvenir drink cups that you could potentially use again.
You will have to purchase your own bread and/or buns for the sandwiches. You want them fresh anyway, right?
What does this cost? Well, it’s not McDonald’s. The complete kit, including shipping, is $175. That’s for anywhere in the continental U.S…… Sorry, Alaska and Hawaii. You have to get to Washington or California and have your package delivered there and then fly home.
Taste of The Masters will arrive – and when Augusta National says it, you can count on it – no later than Friday, April 7, 2023. And don’t dally. the supplies are limited.
Here’s where you can order: ‘Taste of The Masters’
Save me one of the little yellow sandwich party flags!
Now there’s more you can do to have a Masters themed event.
If you want to go all out, you can order a green jacket that is a replica/ look-alike, for under $100 on eBay.
You can get Masters hats, authentic ones, from MMO. The regular hats are $60, caddie hats are $70, and a logoed bucket hat is $109.
If you lean to glass stemware rather than plastic cups, you can buy Masters-logoed wine glasses, two for about $110.
One popular menu item missing from the box is the chicken sandwich, but you can make a quick run to Chick-Fil-A.
Now, if $175 and expensive stemware are beyond your means, we researched some alternatives.
Golf.com did an interesting story on hosting your own tournament-themed party, including the drinks and drinking games. As in every time Jim Nantz says “Hello friends,” everybody drinks.
And even though I have not cooked anything but a cherry pie in years, I would be able to whip up egg salad for a sandwich. It’s just not that hard, although I am seriously kitchen-challenged at this point.
A website called Make Every Day an Event has its own creative take on Masters-themed parties. One of their best ideas is a table runner made from synthetic turf! And they also have a recipe for a drink called The Azalea, which they insist is the official drink of the tournament. Here are the ingredients:
- 2 ounces lemon juice
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 4 ounces vodka
- ¼ ounce grenadine
Shake with ice. Pour all into a glass and enjoy. You can add a lemon wedge if you want.
And as you probably know, one online article leads to another, and Golf.com led to what seems to be Lauren Phillips’ suggestion that the best pimento cheese, ready-made spread, is by Palmetto Cheese, available in tubs up to 24 oz.
There’s even a coupon on their website. Phillips said Trader Joe’s will do in a pinch.
Palmetto Cheese is in something like 9500 stores in the U.S., so someone near you must have it. Worst case, call them and ask for a location near you.
Phillips, who is from South Carolina, moved to New York and had Pimento Cheese withdrawal, which is how she found out where the best stuff is.
And here is possibly the best suggestion ever for a Masters party any time of year: an hour-long version of the official theme music. It’s totally dreamy.
