Fantasy Golf: 2023 Players Championship DFS Player Selections

This week, the PGA Tour presents the 2023 Players Championship. A stacked field of talent, including Masters champion Scottie Scheffler, will travel to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, in an effort to win the 2023 Players Championship!

Let’s take a look at this week’s prestigious event from a fantasy golf perspective.

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Now let’s shift our focus to my fantasy golf/DFS player selections.

Fantasy Golf: 2023 Players Championship DFS Selections and Picks

Patrick Cantlay

Patrick Cantlay arrives at this week’s 2023 Players Championship on the heels of two consecutive top-four finishes on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the 2023 Genesis Invitational last month.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Players Championship field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Patrick Cantlay ranks first in strokes gained tee to green, second in strokes gained off the tee, fifth in birdie or better percentage, and fifth in GIR (greens in regulation).

Patrick Cantlay finished 22nd at the 2016 Players Championship. Having stated that, I fully expect Cantlay to improve on the result that he posted at this tournament in 2016.

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy fired a third-round 68 at last week’s 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational en route to an eventual second-place finish.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Players Championship field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Rory McIlroy ranks second in strokes gained tee to green, third in bogey avoidance, ninth in strokes gained ball striking, and sixth in strokes gained around the green.

It should also be noted that Rory McIlroy won the 2019 Players Championship.

Keegan Bradley

Keegan Bradley has accumulated three top-20 finishes in his last four events played on the PGA Tour, including a second-place result at the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open in January.

I also like the fact that Keegan Bradley has posted quality results at this week’s PGA Tour event previously. Since 2018, Bradley has played the Players Championship four times. In those four tournaments just noted, Bradley has accumulated three top-16 finishes, including a seventh-place result in 2018.
