Each week I will provide my favorite chalk and Dark Horse plays for the upcoming DraftKings DFS slate. This week I will highlight my favorite DraftKings plays for the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson Championship.

A value play is determined by a golfer being underpriced or coming in at lower ownership. I’ll also establish who will be the most rostered on the slate; also known as the “chalk”.

We always want to play the best plays but need leverage as well. Determining the difference between good “chalk” (highly owned) and bad “chalk” is essential.

I’ll list which of the high-owned golfers I like the most this week. Pairing those plays with lower-owned and lower-priced golfers (Dark Horses) is the optimal way to build and gives us the best route to winning a DraftKings contest.

*Ownership projections are estimates and will vary from contest to contest. The percentage provided is in regard to guaranteed prize pools on DraftKings.

2023 AT&T Byron Nelson: Favorite Chalk Plays

Scottie Scheffler ($11,900)

DK Ownership: 40-45% – Scottie is clearly the top golfer in the field and I will have him starting at least half of my lineups.

He’s 1st in strokes gained off the tee,1st in strokes gained approach, 1st in par 5 scoring, 2nd in birdies or better, and 2nd in opportunities gained over the last 24 rounds.

Stephan Jaeger ($8,200)

DK Ownership: 16-18% – Jaeger has played very well recently. He’s gained an average of 9.6 strokes tee to green over his last two events; finishing 27th last week at the Wells Fargo Championship and 18th at the Mexico Open.

He’s 8th in strokes gained approach, 20th on approaches over 200 yards, and 25th in strokes gained off the tee over the last 24 rounds.

Jaeger finished 38th and 17th in his last two appearances at the Byron Nelson.

Sam Stevens ($7,600)

DK Ownership: 14-16% – Stevens finished 47th last week which may not seem like a great finish but he did gain strokes in every category from tee to green. It was really the putter that let him down.

He missed the cut at the RBC Heritage but previously came 2nd and 3rd at the Valero Texas Open and Corales Puntacana Championship.

Stevens looks good statistically as well. He’s 1st in opportunities gained, 5th in birdies or better, 9th off the tee, and 16th on approach over the last 24 rounds.

Dylan Wu ($7,400)

DK Ownership: 14-16% – Wu has made the cut in nine straight tournaments. In his last four tournaments, he’s finished 21st at the Wells Fargo, 15th in Mexico, 39th at the Valero, and 16th at Corales.

Wu is 3rd in birdies or better, 6th in par 5 scoring, and 14th in strokes gained approach over the last 24 rounds.

Nate Lashley ($7,200)

DK Ownership: 12-14% – Lashley has been on a good run. He’s had an average finishing position of 32 over his last three tournaments and has gained strokes on approach in five straight.

He came 17th at the Byron Nelson last year gaining 5.5 strokes tee to green.

He’s 3rd in par 5 scoring, 14th in opportunities gained, 15th in birdies or better, and 15th on approach over the last 24 rounds.
