Breaking down this week’s 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson Purse, Prize money, and Payouts by position at TPC Craig Ranch.

The AT&T Byron Nelson provided players with one final tune-up opportunity before the second major of the year gets underway next week and following another designated event at Quail Hollow last week, it was back to business as usual this week for the PGA Tour.

As a ‘non-elevated’ event, at least for this year, the 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson purse was significantly less than what we’ve seen at this season’s designated events.

The 9.9 million dollars that was up for grabs in Texas this week was less than half of the 20 million that was on offer last week at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Still, the prize on offer at this year’s edition of the AT&T Byron Nelson was larger than the two previous non-designated events on the schedule.

The Zurich Classic of New Orleans several weeks ago dished out around 8.6 million dollars. While this year’s Mexico Open at Vidanta two weeks ago offered 7.7 million to its field.

Despite the decreased purse and non-designated status attached to this year’s Byron Nelson, some of the best in the world still made the trip to the Dallas area for one final start before the 105th PGA Championship in Rochester, New York, next week.

Sunday’s final round at TPC Craig Ranch is set to be another exciting finish on the PGA Tour with a nice mix of relative unknowns and major winners well positioned to make a Sunday charge. Austin Eckroat and Marty Dou will both be looking for their first PGA Tour win during Sunday’s final round, they form part of a three-way tie at the top along with PGA veteran, Ryan Palmer.

Prior to this week, Eckroat had made just four cuts in eleven starts since the calendar turned to 2023; his best finish of 12th coming at the beginning of the year in Hawaii at the 2023 Sony Open.

26-year-old Marty Dou had a similar record coming into this week’s Byron Nelson with four made cuts in nine PGA Tour starts. Dou’s best finish in 2023 prior to this week was a T49 in his last start at the Mexico Open.

The trio of leaders (-16) will take a two-shot lead into the final round of this year’s AT&T Byron Nelson with some of the game’s biggest stars looking to chase them down on Sunday.

Scottie Scheffler and Jason Day (-14) both find themselves two off the pace, while Tyrrell Hatton is currently just three back at -13. Hideki Matsuyama (-10) is six shots adrift going into the final round at TPC Craig Ranch and there are at least fourteen others within four shots of the leaders.

Whoever emerges from the crowded leaderboard at this year’s Byron Nelson will take home a little over 1.7 million dollars. Here is the complete breakdown of this week’s 9.9 million dollar purse and payouts by position for everyone who made the weekend in Texas.
