Breaking down this week’s 2023 Memorial Tournament Purse, Prize money, and Payouts by position at Muirfield Village GC.

The 2023 Memorial Tournament at the iconic Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, marked the eighth event in the calendar year outside of the Players Championship and majors to have been awarded special designated or ‘elevated’ status.

After this year’s Memorial Champion is crowned, just one regular-season designated event will remain; outside of the remaining two majors, and the FedEx Cup playoffs beginning in August. The Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in a few weeks’ time will be the final regular designated event of 2023.

The elite field that made the trip to Jack’s Place for the 2023 Memorial Tournament competed for an elevated 20 million dollar purse once again, as has been the standard throughout each of the newly designated events this year, with the winner at Muirfield Village taking home a handsome 3.6 million dollars.

Following three rounds of this year’s edition of the revered event, it wasn’t any clearer than at the beginning of the week as to who was going to emerge from a crowded pack of elite players.

Heading into Sunday’s final round, 31 players were at or within four strokes of the lead and it was still anyone’s guess as to who was going to shake Jack’s hand on the 18th green come Sunday evening.

Amongst a trio of leaders at six under par going into the final round, Rory McIlroy finds himself in a great position to claim his first win worldwide since the Dubai Desert Classic back in January, and his first on the PGA Tour since the CJ Cup in South Carolina last October.

The four-time major winner fired an impressive four under-68 on Friday to get himself back in contention after he ended his opening round on Thursday with a disastrous triple bogey on Muirfield Village’s challenging 18th.

McIlroy shares the lead at the top alongside Si Woo Kim, winner of this year’s Sony Open in Hawaii, and David Lipsky, a player who has won multiple times across the globe but is still in search of his first PGA Tour win.

A group of five players including Viktor Hovland and recent Wells Fargo Champion, Wyndham Clark, find themselves just one shot back heading into the final round. Meanwhile, another group finds themselves at -4 and just two shots adrift of the leading trio.

Amongst the group at -4 are two-time Memorial winner Patrick Cantlay, two-time major winner Collin Morikawa, and 2021 Masters Champion Hideki Matsuyama, to name a few.

The elevated events continue to deliver excitement and drama until the very end and Sunday’s final round of the 2023 Memorial Tournament appears as though it is set to deliver more of the same.

Those who can maintain their nerve on Sunday will walk away from this week’s event having earned a hefty chunk of change. Here is the complete prize breakdown by position for the Memorial Tournament’s elevated 20 million dollar purse.

In addition to taking home the handsome 3.6 million payday, the 2023 Memorial Tournament Champion also walked away from Jack’s Place with a vital 550 FedEx Cup points in the season-long race to East Lake and the Tour Championship in the Autumn.

On the eve of the third major of the year, the PGA Tour travels north of the border next for the 2023 RBC Canadian Open at Oakdale Golf and Country Club.
