Scottie Scheffler is always there.

Not all facets of his game are on point each week, but no matter the circumstances, Scheffler finds a way to post low scores.

Often in 2023, it’s been his elite ball striking helping him to overcome a woeful putter. The Texan’s on a streak of 16 straight events finishing T-12th or better.

Having only two wins (Phoenix Open, Players Championship) In that stretch is about the lowest possible outcome.

Scheffler made strides with the putter last week in a solo third-place finish at the U.S. Open. He was one of just three players to post par or better all four days (67-68-68-70) at the challenging par-70 venue.

The former Texas Longhorn ranked 47th in the field in strokes gained putting and was a slight positive on the week. That doesn’t seem like much, but considering he’s 138th in that stat on the PGA Tour in 2022-23, it’s a step in the right direction.

He was also top-10 in SG around the green, off-the-tee, and tee-to-green.

Scheffler is first on the PGA Tour this season in SG off-the-tee per round (1.115), approach (1.239), tee-to-green (2.808), and total (2.615).

The 26-year-old will be making his fourth Travelers Championship appearance. Scheffler’s improved each time. In 2020, he posted respectable scores of 70-67 to miss the cut by one.

He improved to T-47th (69-65-71-72) in 2021 and T-13th (68-67-65-70) in 2022.

The way Scheffler is a chameleon for all course types makes him a good fit for TPC River Highlands this week. He has to dial back some of his power, but increased accuracy off the tee with lesser clubs can let his irons do the talking.
