Fantasy Golf: Travelers Championship DFS Player Selections
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour travels to Cromwell, Connecticut for the 2023 Travelers Championship. Let’s take a look at this week’s PGA Tour event from a fantasy golf perspective.
The 2023 Travelers Championship will be played at TPC River Highlands. This course is a par 70 that measures approximately 6,852 yards. TPC River Highlands has been the host for the Travelers Championship since the event’s debut in 1984.
Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Now let’s shift our attention to my favorite fantasy golf/DFS player selections for this week!
2023 Travelers Championship: DFS Player Selections
Tom Kim
Last week, Tom Kim fired a third-round 66 at the 2023 United States Open on his way to an eventual eighth-place finish.
Chez Reavie
Chez Reavie is a golfer that prospers on short golf courses where accuracy off the tee is paramount to success. An illustration of my previous statement is Reavie’s 11th place result at the 2023 RBC Heritage in April. Having stated that, I like Reavie’s chances to perform well this week.
It should also be noted that Chez Reavie has performed well at TPC River Highlands previously. Reavie won the 2019 Travelers Championship.
Brian Harman
Continuing my narrative of looking for players that perform well on shorter golf courses I am backing Brian Harman.
In November, Harman posted a second-place finish at the 2023 RSM Classic. Harman followed up that runner-up finish with a seventh-place result at the 2023 RBC Heritage.
If you are looking for a golfer that has an outstanding previous record at TPC River Highlands look no further as I have found your man. That man’s name is Brian Harman.
Since 2018, Brian Harman has played the Travelers Championship five times. In those five events just noted, Harman has accumulated a fifth-place result at the 2021 Travelers Championship.
Aaron Rai
The 28-year-old Englishman has accumulated two top-12 finishes in his last three tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a third-place result at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open two weeks ago.
In relation to this week’s current listed 2023 Travelers Championship field, in the last eight rounds played on the PGA Tour, Aaron Rai ranks fifth in strokes gained approach, 11th in birdie or better percentage, eighth in strokes gained ball striking, and first in driving accuracy.
Additional players I like this week: Patrick Cantlay: Tommy Fleetwood: Russell Henley: Adam Scott.
