Rocket Mortgage Classic: Purse, Prize Payouts by Position
Breaking down this week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic Purse, Prize money, and Payouts by position at Detroit Golf Club.
Following a run of a major, a national open, and two designated events over the last four weeks, regular service resumed this week in Detroit.
With just six regular events remaining on the schedule after this week, the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic managed to entice a surprisingly strong field to the Detroit area for the event’s fifth edition.
The 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic features an $8.8 million dollar purse with the tournament champion taking home around a 1.5 million dollar prize. The 8.8 million prize purse on offer in Detroit is right on par with earlier non-designated events this season, such as the Valero Texas Open (8.9 million), Charles Schwab Challenge (8.7 million), and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April (8.6 million).
A tightly congested leaderboard heading into Sunday’s final round in the Motor City should deliver another fantastic finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
Going into the final round, no fewer than sixteen players are within six strokes of fan favorite Rickie Fowler’s lead. Fowler will look to follow in Tony Finau’s footsteps on Sunday and delight the crowds in Detroit and around the world this weekend with a win.
Fowler, who is in search of his first win since the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open, will take a one-shot lead into the final round following a scintillating Saturday-64.
Rickie has recorded 12 top 20 finishes or better in 2023 and rounds of 67-65-64 for a cumulative 196 total over the first three days at Detroit Golf Club have him well-positioned for a long-awaited victory heading into Sunday.
Two Canadians in Adam Hadwin (-19) and Taylor Pendrith (-18) will be waiting to capitalize should Fowler slip up during the final round. Pendrith was firmly in contention in the Motor City last year before a final round of 72 ended any hopes of a first PGA Tour win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. He will be hoping for a better outcome in 2023.
Englishman, Aaron Rai (-17), two-time major winner, Collin Morikawa (-16), and 2023 Valspar Champion, Taylor Moore (-16), are just a few of the names on the congested leaderboard still within touching distance of the lead following three days of action at Detroit Golf Club.
Whoever emerges from the packed group of contenders at this year’s Rocket Mortgage Classic will walk away with a cool $1,584,000 dollar prize. Here is this year’s complete prize breakdown by position for the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
