The 34-year-old has had his fair share of final-round struggles this season, but on Sunday, the adored golfer wearing his trademark ‘Sunday Orange’ got off to a quick start.
Rickie birdied three of his first seven holes before making the turn in 33. Scoring dried up on the back nine for Fowler, but on the 18th he threw a dart right at the pin at the perfect time to ensure he was part of a three-man playoff alongside Collin Morikawa, who fired a Sunday-64, and Canadian Adam Hadwin, whose 67 was good enough to join both Morikawa and Fowler in the playoff.
Fowler would once again produce an incredible shot on 18 during the playoff. After his errant drive went wide right, his immaculate approach shot from the rough landed within 12 feet of the hole. Rickie would go on to nail the clutch putt to secure the birdie and the win in the playoff.
