2023 John Deere Classic: Prize Purse and Payouts by Position
Breaking down this week’s John Deere Classic Purse, Prize money, and Payouts by position at TPC Deere Run.
The John Deere Classic has established itself over the years as an event that has produced a plethora of first-time PGA Tour winners, and heading into Sunday of the 2023 edition there are a handful of names in contention who will look to win for the first time out on tour.
With the final major of the year on the near horizon and the John Deere Classic’s position on the schedule, this week’s $7.4 million dollar purse fails in comparison to the majority of purses on offer in 2023. Still, the figure is a slight increase from last year’s sum of 7.1 million and whoever emerges victorious will take home over 1.3 million dollars; in addition to the precious FedEx Cup points that are up for grabs at TPC Deere Run.
Heading into the final round of this year’s tournament, an eye-opening twelve players find themselves within three shots of Brendon Todd’s (-16) lead.
The 37-year-old will be looking for his fourth PGA Tour win on Sunday. Todd’s last win on tour came back in 2019 at the Mayakoba Golf Classic where he won in a second consecutive start after earning PGA Tour win number two at the 2019 Bermuda Championship just two weeks earlier.
Todd’s winning experience could prove crucial during the final round of the John Deere Classic with a handful of his chasers looking for their very first win out on tour. Denny McCarthy, Alex Smalley, and Adam Schenk all sit just one shot adrift heading into Sunday, with all three looking for their first PGA Tour win.
Both McCarthy and Schenk have come close to breaking through in recent months, however. McCarthy lost in a playoff to Viktor Hovland at the 2023 Memorial Tournament last month, and Schenk has finished runner-up on two separate occasions this year already at both the Valspar Championship and the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Peter Kuest (-14) sits just two shots off the pace, one week after his incredible performance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Meanwhile, a large contingent that includes last year’s PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, Cameron Young, and the defending John Deere Classic champion J.T. Poston, make up a group of contenders sitting at 13-under.
Whoever comes out on top on Sunday will take home a cool $1,332,000 for their efforts this week. Here is this year’s complete prize breakdown by position for the John Deere Classic.
