Watch Brian Harman receive the iconic Claret Jug after winning the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

Brian Harman won his first Major Championship in historic fashion at Royal Liverpool this week. The American defied all odds and showed tremendous grit and determination in what will go down as one of the most memorable performances in Open Championship history.

Harman took control of the year’s final Major on Friday and never looked back as he became the first Open Champion since Henry Cotton in 1934 to lead by a margin of five shots or greater at the end of the 2nd, 3rd, and final rounds of the famous Championship; as Justin Ray highlighted.

The 36-year-old journeyman played the role of underdog to perfection all week long as he bounced back from any adversity he faced each and every time and won in spite of the local fans, many of whom gave Brian a hard time throughout the week.

In the end, the 2023 Open Champion, who came into this week having previously won on the PGA Tour on two different occasions, outlasted some of the world’s best en route to glory. The 2023 ‘Champion Golfer of the Year’ won in a route at Hoylake with his closest competition some six shots adrift in the end.

Brian Harman became the first U.S.-born winner of The Open Championship to have won by that significant of a margin since Tiger Woods did it back in 2000.

Take a look at the special moment when Harman was presented with the iconic Claret Jug and declared the Champion Golfer of the Year on the 18th green on Sunday.

The 151st Open Champion proclaims he will celebrate in style. Who wouldn’t after such a life-changing week?

Brian Harman will be able to celebrate this special moment for the rest of his life, and he can hold his head high after a frankly breathtaking display of golf this week at Hoylake. Harman became the 2nd American-born player to win the Open Championship at Royal Liverpool since 2006 when Tiger Woods emerged victorious during an emotional week.

The 2023 Open Champion also joins fellow Georgian and golfing legend, Bobby Jones, in winning an Open at Royal Liverpool after Jone’s historic win at the 65th Open at Hoylake in 1930.
