J.T. Poston earns the honor of high J.T. in this week’s power rankings, nipping Justin Thomas.

Unlike Thomas, Poston has experience at the 3M Open. Poston hasn’t exactly lit TPC Twin Cities on fire in his two appearances, but he’s got six rounds of par or better.

In 2021, the Post Man posted 69-66-76-66 to earn T-28th. He improved to T-11th last year with 71-69-64-72.

Poston rolled the rock well here in 2022, finishing fourth in the field in strokes gained putting (1.63). He was also 14th in SG off-the-tee (.77).

The Western Carolina alum comes into the week on a streak of three made cuts. He posted back-to-back T-6th finishes at the John Deere Classic and Genesis Scottish Open before taking T-41st at The Open Championship.

Poston made three of four cuts at the majors this season. It was the first time in his career playing all four majors in a year.

Poston is up to four top-10s in 2022-23 in a nice follow-up season to 2021-22 where he made it to East Lake for the Tour Championship.

The 30-year-old ranks 57th on the PGA Tour in SG putting (.206) and is also gaining strokes off-the-tee and on approach.

Poston is probably a long shot at earning a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup, but you never know if he finishes the season strong. A win here or next week at the Wyndham Championship where he’s a past champion could at least get him in the conversation for one of the last spots.
