2023 Wyndham Championship: Prize Money And Payouts By Position
Breaking down this week’s Wyndham Championship Purse, Prize money, and Payouts by position at Sedgefield Country Club.
It all comes down to this. The 2023 Wyndham Championship represents the final opportunity for players to punch their tickets to this season’s FedEx Cup Playoffs. If you aren’t inside of the Top 70 in the standings following the final round of play at Sedgefield Country Club, your season is over, it’s as simple as that.
Sunday’s final round finale is sure to be a nervy one both at the top of the leaderboard and for those who find themselves on the FedEx Cup bubble with just eighteen holes remaining in the 2022/23 PGA Tour season.
Along with everything else that is at stake this week, there is also significant prize money up for grabs at the final regular season event on the schedule. A $7.6 million dollar purse to be specific.
The 7.6 million that is up for grabs at the 2023 Wyndham Championship comes in on the lower end of prize purses that have been dished out to the world’s best golfers throughout the season. It comes in right around events such as this season’s Mexico Open at Vidanta (7.7 million), last week’s 3M Open (7.8 million), and the John Deere Classic (7.4 million).
While a group of three or four players created some distance between themselves and the rest of the chasing pack on moving day at the Wyndham Championship, following the heroics of Tom Kim on Sunday last year, it would be unwise to completely rule out a surprise contender surging up the leaderboard to claim this year’s trophy and the $1.36 million on offer to this week’s champion at Sedgefield.
Two players who came into the week needing a massive week in order to climb inside the crucial Top 70 have clicked into gear at the perfect time. Both Billy Horschel (-18) and Lucas Glover (-18) share the lead at the top heading into the final round at this year’s Wyndham Championship.
Horschel, who came into the week at 116th in the FedEx Cup standings, fired rounds of 67-62 and 63 to put himself in a great position to not only advance to the first leg of the playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship next week but also to earn his first win in 2023; having previously won the Memorial Tournament last year.
Lucas Glover is in search of his first win since the 2021 John Deere Classic. Glover entered the week at 112th in the standings and is now projected to climb well inside of the Top 70 following three rounds of 66-64 and 62 this week in North Carolina.
Meanwhile, Russell Henley (-17) finds himself just one shot off the pace going into the final round, while Byeong Hun An (-15) sits three shots adrift of the leaders.
Whoever comes out on top at the season’s final event heading into the playoffs will walk away with the 1.36 million dollar prize and a precious 500 FedEx Cup points; which may just earn the champion a spot in the postseason. Here is this year’s complete prize breakdown by position for the Wyndham Championship.
