2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship: Top 10 power rankings at TPC Southwind
Jon Rahm is looking to continue to improve at TPC Southwind.
The Spaniard finished seventh (62-71-68-69) in his debut in 2019 and climbed to T-5th (67-69-67-66) in 2022.
A tough putting week kept Rahm from winning, but he was third in strokes gained per round off-the-tee (1.1) and fifth in SG tee-to-green (1.98) last year.
The former Arizona State Sun Devil is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour this season. All came in April or earlier, headed by his Masters triumph. Rahm hit a bit of a summer swoon, but has gained momentum with a T-10th at the U.S. Open and T-2nd at The Open Championship.
No one was catching Brian Harman at Royal Liverpool, though Rahm was at least the closest to making a run at him. For Rahm to get into position to have a chance if Harman stumbled after Rahm opened in 3-over-74 was incredible.
Rahm now comes into the FedEx Cup Playoffs well-rested following two weeks off.
He’s second in total SG per round (2.244), third in SG tee-to-green (1.769), and third in SG approach (.982).
He leads the PGA Tour in a host of statistical categories. Rahm is numero uno in holes per eagle (70.8), birdies per round (4.61), and average approach proximity (29’3”). Putting from 15-20 feet (31.96%), putting from inside three feet (100%), birdie or better percentage (27.02%), par 3 scoring average (2.93), par 5 scoring average (4.43), and average proximity from 100-plus yards (30’9”).
