Sepp Straka will look to use his hot recent form to help him get over the hump at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Last year, Straka’s rounds of 64-66-68-67 got him into a playoff with Will Zalatoris.

After so many close calls at his first career win, Zalatoris got it done by outlasting Straka on the third extra hole.

Nonetheless, it was an impressive debut at TPC Southwind. Straka looked like a veteran on the greens, ranking second in strokes gained per round putting (1.5). Straka was top 30 in all other SG categories.

Straka earned his second career PGA Tour victory earlier this summer at the John Deere Classic. He surged to win with a Sunday 62, even with a water ball on 18 mixed in. Props to him for the bravado of gunning for a 59 with the tournament on the line.

He followed up by hitting the shot of the week at The Open Championship en route to T-2nd, his best finish at a major.

The former Georgia Bulldog is up to five top-10s this season. He was solo second at the Sanderson Farms Championship and T-7th at the PGA Championship.

Straka went from barely on the European Ryder Cup radar to a virtual lock with less than two months remaining before they tee it up in Rome.

He ranks 15th on the PGA Tour in SG approach per round (.586). He’s also 21st in total driving (129), which combines his distance rank (107) and accuracy rank (22).
