It was a good run while it lasted.

For the first time since October, Scottie Scheffler finished outside the top 12.

His streak of being one of the best dozen players at a given event halted at 19 events when Scheffler finished T-23rd in his last start at The Open Championship.

The last time he failed to finish in the money was at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship. Even when he MC’s he’s still under par. Scheffler posted 71-68 (-2) to miss by a shot.

This year, there’s no cut to worry about.

Scheffler played in Memphis shortly before his 18th birthday in 2014. He was unable to replicate the T-22nd finish he recorded in his PGA Tour debut earlier that year at the Byron Nelson, but Scheffler posted a respectable 71 in round one prior to missing the cut.

His three other finishes at TPC Southwind resulted in T-43rd (71-68-68-72) in 2018, T-15th (69-67-69-68) in 2020, and 14th (65-65-67-74) in 2021. Scheffler was in the top five through three rounds in 2021 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

"“I think you’ve got to hit a lot of fairways, which is something I feel like I do well,” Scheffler was transcribed by Tee Scripts in 2021. “You can attack some of these pins from the fairway, which you definitely cannot do from the rough on this golf course and I think that suits me well.”"

Scheffler ranks first on the PGA Tour in a variety of strokes gained per round categories: Total (2.616), tee-to-green (2.807), off-the-tee (1.08), and approach (1,304).

He’s also tops in greens in regulation (74.05%), scoring average (68.531), and bogey avoidance (10.67%).
