DP World Tour Fantasy Golf: Qatar Masters First Round Showdown Picks

This Thursday morning, the first round of the 2023 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters will begin.

Let’s take a look at the first round of this week’s DP World Tour event from a DraftKings/fantasy golf perspective!

Before I discuss my fantasy golf player selections I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact lineup for a specific fantasy provider.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my fantasy golf/DFS player selections for the DraftKings first-round showdown contest.

2023 Qatar Masters: Round One Showdown Selections

Ewen Ferguson  $9,200

Ewen Ferguson has accumulated three top-10 finishes in his last four tournaments played on the DP World Tour, including a tenth-place result at the 2023 Open de France four weeks ago.

It should also be noted that Ewen Ferguson won the 2022 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

Marcel Siem  $8,800

The 43-year-old German has accumulated two consecutive top-seven finishes on the DP World Tour, including a fourth-place result at the 2023 Open de España two weeks ago.

Due to the fact that Marcel Siem posted a top-five finish at the 2023 Open de España, I decided to take a hard look at the key player statistics for the event to see how Siem performed relative to the field.

Upon completion of four rounds of play at the 2023 Open de España, Marcel Siem ranked second in strokes gained approach (2.02), fifth in GIR (greens in regulation-76.38%), and tenth in bogey avoidance (1.75).

Robert MacIntyre  $8,900

Since the beginning of July, Robert MacIntyre has played ten tournaments on the DP World Tour. In those ten events just noted, Robert MacIntyre accumulated five top-26 finishes, including an impressive second-place result at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open.
