Corey Conners is looking to fly the maple leaf flag for the second straight year at the RSM Classic. His countryman, Adam Svensson, was the 2022 champion.

Conners has yet to win this event but has never left St. Simons Island empty-handed. He’s 4-for-4 making the cut at Sea Island Golf Club, posting T-37th (69-69-68-69) in 2017, T-23rd (69-67-70-64) in 2018, T-10th (67-70-66-64) in 2020 and T-22nd (62-71-72-67) in 2021.

The 31-year-old is a winner in 2023 at the Valero Texas Open. He owns four top-10s this year, most recently at the FedEx St. Jude Championship where he took T-6th.

This will be Conners’ first start of the FedEx Cup Fall, so he comes in with a rest advantage over the contingent heading northwest from Bermuda.

He closed his summer strong, following up his St. Jude result with T-10th at the BMW Championship to qualify for the Tour Championship.

The former Kent State Golden Flash ranks 19th on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Total (.925 per round). He’s also 14th in SG: Tee-to-Green (1.027), 11th in SG: Off-the-Tee (.571), and 20th in SG: Approach (.514).

Conners has a track record of playing well in Georgia. He’s got three top-10s at the Masters to go with another here at the RSM.

Conners is one of the best pure ball strikers on site this week. If he’s not too rusty, I expect him to be in contention come Sunday. He’s already locked into next year’s Signature Events and is not playing for his status this week like so many players in the field are.
