With the LPGA Tour's season finished, there is only one more tournament for 2024: the Grant Thornton Invitational. For 16 golfers on the tour, the event offers a huge purse and bragging rights.

The Grant Thornton Invitational features 16 teams with a player from the LPGA Tour paired with a player from the PGA Tour. The prize purse for the event is a cool $4 million.

Last season, in the inaugural event, Lydia Ko was paired with the PGA Tour player Jason Day and the pair won the tournament. Ko now looks to defend her title with Day. 15 other LPGA golfers are set to tee off this week and will be paired with some of the PGA Tour's best.

World No.1 Nelly Korda returns to the Grant Thornton Invitational in 2024

Nelly Korda won seven tournaments this year and will compete alongside Daniel Berger, who replaced Tony Finau in the field on Wednesday after Finau withdrew from this year's event. They should give Ko and Day a run for their money this weekend.

Other notable LPGA Tour players competing this week include Lexi Thompson and Lauren Coughlin. Thompson is playing in her final competitive tournament. The 29-year-old announced her retirement from the tour earlier in the year.

Coughlin had a breakout 2024 season, winning twice on tour; her first victories on the LPGA Tour. She made more than $2 million throughout the campaign.

Thompson will be paired with popular PGA Tour player, Rickie Fowler. Coughlin will play this week with Cameron Young.

CME Group Tour Champion Jeeno Thitikul is also in the field. She is paired with Tom Kim. Thitikul also won the Dow Championship this season. She won both tournaments by a single stroke.

Additionally, Australian golfer Gabi Ruffels will compete in this year's Grant Thornton Invitational. The talented young player has had an up-and-down start to her career but should be a mainstay on the LPGA Tour for years to come.

During the Ford Championship in March, Ruffels posted a career-low round of 64 in the first round. She finished the tournament in a tie for 13th place. It was one of the tournaments that Korda would go on to claim this season.

Ruffels will play with PGA Tour player Nick Dunlap. Dunlap won twice on the PGA Tour this season, most recently at the Barracuda Championship in July.

For the players participating, it will be their final tournament before they head into the offseason. The next tournament on the schedule for the LPGA Tour is not until the end of January 2025 at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions.
