We are already into the second stage of 2024 PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry, and several big names are in the mix, looking to regain their cards as one of the last five handed out for 2025. There is still a significant amount of golf to be played in Q School, and with guaranteed starts on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Americas status, or one of five full-status PGA Tour cards up for grabs, the stakes are immeasurably high for golfers over the next two weeks.

Though the official PGA Tour season has ended for the year, there is still plenty of meaningful golf left to be played, especially for those either looking to find their former form or young players trying to rise to the next level.

What is PGA Tour Q-School and how does it work?

Q School is the qualifying tournament for those looking to make it to the PGA Tour. This is the second straight year that five PGA Tour cards are available through Q School, further raising the stakes for those playing. Additionally, the top 40 after the first five get full status on the Korn Ferry Tour, essentially the PGA Tour’s version of Triple-A baseball. Everyone who makes it through to the finals earns status on PGA Tour Americas, formerly known as PGA Tour Canada and PGA Tour Latin America.

Depending on results from previous attempts at Q School and status on the Korn Ferry or PGA Tours, golfers start at either pre-qualify, first stage, second stage, or finals. Several players who had PGA Tour status this year and just missed keeping their full status will compete in final qualifying.

At each stage, the top 20 and ties from each qualifying site advance to the next stage. With such limited spots available, the pressure to perform is magnified as each stage progresses.

Who are some of the big names competing?

Among the competitors at Q School this year are current and past PGA Tour players, rising stars, and top social media golfers.

The 2024 edition of Q School has already seen several big names miss out on their chance to regain their PGA Tour cards. Morgan Hoffmann, who has earned more than $6 million on the PGA Tour, finished four shots outside of advancing to finals at the second stage site in Savannah, Georgia.

Starting on December 3, several big names are going to be competing to advance to finals. Notable players in the field at various second stage sites are D.J. Trahan, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, YouTube stars George Bryan IV and Sean Walsh, Korn Ferry Tour winner Andrew Kozan, and Keenan Huskey, who is behind the social media account Until. Golf.

Additionally, up-and-coming star Maxwell Moldovan and longtime journeymen T.J. Vogel and Willie Mack III will tee it up at second stage, looking to advance to finals and continue chasing their dreams.

What’s next for Q-School?

The last four second stage sites start competition on Tuesday, December 3, with the final rounds taking place on Friday, December 6. After that, finals will take place December 12 to 15 at TPC Sawgrass and Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

Scores for the remaining second stage sites and final stage can be tracked online here.
