2024 Zozo Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Narashino CC

Golf in Japan! Players will make the trek to Tokyo this week for the 2024 Zozo Championship, with much to play for. It is a special week for Hideki Matsuyama, Takumi Kanaya, Kensei Hirata, and the other Japanese players in the field. They will be playing for something more meaningful and unquantifiable: honor.

6) Kurt Kitayama

Kitayama gets this week's "heater" award; he paces the field in strokes gained on approach shots over the past 24 rounds. However, the heater only applies to his irons.

It is tough not to bat an eye at his struggles with the putter, and it is why he should be disappointed at T25-T9 finishes in his last two starts. On the green, He ranked 57th out of 66 players who made the cut at the Shriners last week.

Narashino is a second-shot golf course, and Kitayama's second-shot is as good as anybody's right now.

5) Sungjae Im

It's rare to see Im without a smile on his face, but a 1-4 record at the Presidents Cup will do that to you. He's ready to rekindle the mojo that propelled him to ten top 20s since The Masters.

This venue is an excellent course fit for him, as he is one of the game's premier ball strikers -- a common theme among this week's rankings. Like JT, he can move the ball fluidly in all different directions.

At Narashino, he has gone T3-T29-T12, backing up the narrative that this course suits his eye. Im has not won on the PGA Tour since 2021 -- there are a few players in this field who naturally will rank above him due to his winless streak. Maybe that makes the South Korean all the more due.
