Following a one-week hiatus after Xander Schauffele's win in Japan at the Baycurrent Classic, the PGA Tour returns Stateside this week for the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship, which marks the fourth of seven FedEx Cup Fall Series events. Black Desert Resort, in Ivins, Utah, will host the PGA Tour for a second consecutive year after hosting the inaugural Black Desert Championship a season ago.

Defending champion Matt McCarty is back in the field this week after securing his first win in only his third career PGA Tour start last fall. McCarty is joined by the likes of Maverick McNealy, Jason Day, Kurt Kitayama, Michael Thorbjornsen, and Alex Noren, who is fresh off two wins on the DP World Tour in recent months. Billy Horschel will also make his third start in his return from hip surgery, which cost him the majority of the 2025 season.

Black Desert Resort, a par-71, 7,421-yard Tom Weiskopf/Phil Smith design, will host the Bank of Utah Championship for a second time, and this week's 132-man field will vie for crucial FedEx Cup points with spots in the FedEx Cup Fall Top 100 and two early-season Signature Events on the line. Let's dive into the picks and predictions.

2025 Bank of Utah Championship picks and predictions

Top 20 pick for the Bank of Utah Championship: Sam Ryder (+250)

Sam Ryder finished 40th in his debut at Black Desert last season, but the 35-year-old comes in this year in considerably better form than he was in at this time last year. After missing the cut at the FedEx Cup Fall opener, the Procore Championship, Ryder has reeled off back-to-back top-30 finishes, including a T20 result in Japan two weeks ago. Currently sitting in 106th place in the FedEx Cup Fall standings, Ryder needs a few more good results in the coming weeks to move inside the top 100 and secure his PGA Tour card for 2026.

Sleeper pick for the Bank of Utah Championship: Taylor Montgomery (+6500)

Montgomery returns to Utah having finished tied for second at the Utah Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour in August. As for the PGA Tour, Taylor will make his third start of the FedEx Cup Fall after finishing T30 at the Procore and T6 in his most recent start at the Sanderson Farms Championship earlier this month. Like the aforementioned Ryder, Montgomery has some work to do in the coming weeks to secure his PGA Tour card, currently sitting 130th in the FedEx Cup Fall Series.

Pick to win the Bank of Utah Championship: Christiaan Bezuidenhout (+3500)

A three-time winner on the DP World Tour, Bezuidenhout is still looking for his first win on the PGA Tour. At 69th in the FedEx Cup Fall Series, the South African has an opportunity to work his way into the top 60 in the coming weeks and secure his spots in next year's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational. Christiaan comes into the Bank of Utah Championship after consecutive top-10 finishes at the Sanderson Farms Championship and Baycurrent Classic in his last two starts.
