The PGA Tour returns to Japan for the Baycurrent Classic. Formerly known as the ZOZO Championship, the tourney represents the third of seven FedEx Cup Fall events to close out the year.
Despite its spot on the calendar, the Baycurrent Classic has attracted some big names, headlined by the big three of Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and Hideki Matsuyama. Both Matsuyama and Morikawa will be looking for another win in Japan after having previously won the ZOZO Championship. Nico Echavarria returns as the defending champion after holding off Justin Thomas and Max Greyserman for his second PGA Tour win in this event last year.
With its new name, the Baycurrent Classic will also be played at a new venue for the first time since 2020. Yokohama Country Club, a par-71 that plays 7,315-yards, Par 71, will host the PGA Tour for the first time this week. Unlike the other events that make up the FedEx Cup Fall, the Baycurrent Classic features a limited 78-man field with no cut.
Let's dive into the picks and predictions for the 2025 Baycurrent Classic.
2025 Baycurrent Classic picks and predictions
Top 20 pick for the Baycurrent Classic: Gary Woodland (+150)
Back in action after his role as a Vice Captain at the Ryder Cup, Woodland brings some good recent form into his second event of the FedEx Cup Fall after three top-25 finishes in his last three starts. Woodland finished fifth at the 2020 ZOZO Championship, and he has had plenty of success on this side of the globe throughout his career.
Sleeper pick for the Baycurrent Classic: Eric Cole (+6500)
Coming off a T9 finish at the Sanderson Farms Championship last week, Cole will be eager to keep up the good form as he looks to secure a spot in the top 60 of the FedEx Cup Fall standings over the next couple of months, a feat that would guarantee him a place in two early-season Signature Events next year. Albeit at a different venue, Cole has had a great deal of success in two previous starts in Japan with a T6 and a T2 in the last two years.
Pick to win the Baycurrent Classic: Si Woo Kim (+2200)
Dating back to the FedEx St. Jude Championship in August, Si Woo Kim has accumulated three consecutive top-20 finishes, including a T5 in his most recent start at the BMW PGA Championship last month. Kim has enjoyed some success in Japan of late after finishing T6 at last year's ZOZO Championship and tying for 18th in 2022. He hasn't won since the 2023 Sony Open in Hawaii, but things have been trending in the right direction in recent months.
Pick to win the Baycurrent Classic: Hideki Matsuyama (+1800)
Following his phenomenal win at The Sentry at the beginning of the year, it was a relatively quiet season for Matsuyama by his standards, with no other top-10 results in 2025. He returns home after tying for 13th at the BMW PGA Championship in his most recent start, where he had led after 36 holes. An eight-time winner in his homeland, including the 2021 ZOZO Championship, Hideki could be on the verge of winning for the second time this year.
