2025 PGA Tour Season First Look: Majors, Signature Events, FedEx Cup Playoffs
The 2025 PGA Tour schedule is set for a 39-event season. The four majors are planned for venues that have hosted majors in the recent past, eight Signature Events, and two FedEx Cup playoff events all culminating in the Tour Championship in Atlanta in August. Besides the sites for the majors and some different events being Signature Events, the most notable changes are title sponsors.
The most notable change for 2025 is the host of the Truist Championship in May. The traditional host is Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC, but since they are hosting the PGA Championship the following week, Philadelphia Cricket Club stepped in. The club previously hosted the 2015 PGA Professional Championship, 2016 Senior Players Championship, and the 2024 USGA Four Ball Amateur Championship. When Quail Hollow hosted the 2017 PGA Championship, the Truist Championship was played at Eagle Point Club in Wilmington, NC. The Truist was also played at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm in 2022 due to Quail Hollow hosting the 2022 Presidents Cup.
Also notable is the BMW Championship will return to Caves Valley in Owings Mills, MD, after visiting Castle Pines in 2024. The BMW Championship was last played at Caves Valley in 2021.
The 2025 Ryder Cup is scheduled for Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY, from September 25-28.
The most glaring absence is there does not appear to be any clear opportunities for LIV events to mesh with the PGA Tour schedule. One could speculate an agreement would not go into effect until the fall of 2025 at the earliest, they would operate separately, an agreement is not imminent, or that LIV players would merge into the schedule as is.
As in the past, the Tour spends most of the winter and spring in the West and South before gradually shifting North for the summer months. Three of the last four Tour events in August and September, however, are back in the Southeast, so expect the heat to play a role in the Regular Season finale in Greensboro, NC, and the FedEx Cup playoffs.
