The 2025 PGA Tour season culminates in Atlanta, Georgia, this week at the Tour Championship. East Lake Golf Club will once again host the season finale as 30 of this season's best compete to become this year's FedEx Cup champion.
Unlike the past few years, every golfer will tee off this week on level playing ground, with the staggered-stroke format no longer part of the equation. Instead, a standard 72-hole stroke-play event will determine this year's champion.
Even with no advantage on the Tour Championship leaderboard to begin the week, world No.1 Scottie Scheffler is the clear man to beat as he rolls into Atlanta on the back of an impressive win at last week's BMW Championship, his fifth of the season.
Last year's FedEx Cup winner is joined by Rory McIlroy, the only three-time winner of the FedEx Cup, 2023 winner Viktor Hovland, and a host of others, including Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, and Justin Rose, to name a few.
With a whopping $40 million up for grabs and this year's FedEx Cup title on the line, the stakes are high as this week's elite 30-man field competes for glory in the season finale. Let's dive into the picks and predictions for the final event of the season.
2025 Tour Championship picks and predictions
Top 10 pick for the Tour Championship: Sungjae Im (+275)
Sitting 28th in the FedEx Cup standings, Sungjae did enough this season to book a seventh consecutive trip to East Lake and the Tour Championship. Im has a fantastic history at East Lake with three top-11 finishes in his last five starts, including a seventh-place finish here last year after the restoration project.
Pick to win the Tour Championship w/o Scheffler: Viktor Hovland (+2000)
A winner at the Valspar Championship earlier this year, Hovland returns to East Lake following a T7 finish at the BMW Championship last week, his third top-10 finish this season.
Including his win here in 2023, Hovland has a tremendous record at the Tour Championship with four consecutive top-15 finishes. Additionally, the Norwegian enters the Tour Championship ranked second behind only Scottie Scheffler in true strokes gained approach over the last 20 rounds, according to Data Golf; a positive sign as he looks to win his second FedEx Cup.
Pick to win the Tour Championship: Rory McIlroy (+800)
Rory McIlroy finished T12 at last week's BMW Championship in his first start since a T7 finish at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush last month.
A three-time FedEx Cup champion, McIlroy's history in this event speaks for itself, and you have to go back to 2021 to find the last time that he didn't finish in the top 10 at East Lake. This year's Masters champion will look for his fourth win of the year in the season-ending event, and he enters in good form, having gained strokes both off the tee and on approach in each of his last four starts.
