The PGA Tour remains in Texas for the 2026 Charles Schwab Challenge. One of the longest-running events on the golfing calendar welcomes a significantly strong 132-man field for the final stop in the Lone Star State this season.

In contrast to last week's CJ Cup Byron Nelson, where Wyndham Clark won after posting 30-under par, the Charles Schwab Challenge has proved to be a different test altogether, with winning scores ranging between 8 and 14-under par in recent editions. Ben Griffin took home the trophy at historic Colonial Country Club (Par-70, 7,289 yards) after posting twelve-under-par here a year ago.

Griffin returns in 2026 looking to become the first player since the great Ben Hogan to successfully defend his title. Including last year's champion, seven of the top 20 OWGR-ranked players are set to tee it up at the Charles Schwab Challenge, including Ludvig Aberg, Russell Henley, two-time major champion Justin Thomas, Robert MacIntyre, 2025 U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun, and Hideki Matsuyama.

A mainstay on the PGA Tour since 1946, who will join an illustrious list of winners at Colonial in 2026? Let's get into the picks and predictions for the Charles Schwab Challenge.

2026 Charles Schwab Challenge picks and predictions

Sleeper pick for the Charles Schwab Challenge: Tom Hoge (+15500)

Coming off a solid T26 result at the PGA Championship, Tom Hoge secured his second top-6 finish of the season at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. He missed the cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge last season but finished T17 at Colonial in 2024. Hoge is trending in the right direction as he looks for his first win since the 2022 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Sleeper pick for the Charles Schwab Challenge: Max Greyserman (+5900)

A two-time runner-up on the PGA Tour in 2025, Max Greyserman is still searching for his first career win. Since the beginning of May, he has finished no worse than T38 in his last four starts and comes into the Charles Schwab Challenge after tying for fourteenth at the PGA Championship and finishing in a share for sixth at TPC Craig Ranch last week. Greyserman ranks eleventh in the field over the last month, per Data Golf, in both strokes gained: approach and tee to green. He finished T22 at Colonial in 2025.

Pick to win the Charles Schwab Challenge: Alex Smalley (+3400)

Ranking twenty-seventh in the field in driving accuracy over the last month and inside the top 35 in strokes gained: approach on the PGA Tour this season, Smalley should excel at a venue like Colonial. Coming off a runner-up finish at the PGA Championship, he has now strung together six consecutive top 21 finishes or better, dating back to the Texas Children's Houston Open in late March. The 29-year-old has had mixed results at the Charles Schwab Challenge, but did finish tied for 27th here in 2022.

Pick to win the Charles Schwab Challenge: Justin Thomas (+2350)

Since making his season debut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, Thomas has recorded five top 30 finishes or better in seven starts. The two-time PGA Champion comes into the Charles Schwab Challenge following a T4 finish at the PGA Championship in his most recent start. He ranks third in the field from tee to green over the last month, and while he has had mixed results at Colonial in the past, including a T10 finish here in 2020, it's a locale similar to Harbour Town, where Thomas recently won in 2025, that should suit his game.
