5 Must-Play Golf Courses in Las Vegas
By Randy Pilon
Las Vegas is a well-known tourist destination, drawing constant groups of people to the strip for world-class casinos and entertainment. What isn’t as well-known, however, is the amount of amazing golf within the city.
When planning a trip to Las Vegas, around visiting the casinos and taking in a show, make plans to play at one of the great courses available around the Strip and throughout the city. Enjoy a round at one of these five courses to experience some of the best golf in the U.S.
Play a round at the iconic Wynn Golf Club and experience golf in front of the Sphere
As seen in Capital One’s The Match, Wynn Golf Club is an iconic course in Las Vegas. Suitable for both tour pros and everyday hacks, the course plays 6,722 yards from the back tees and 4,810 yards from the front tees, with two additional options. This opens the course up for everyone from more serious golfers to those looking to have a few drinks and enjoy the view.
That’s also a major appeal for Wynn Golf Club. The iconic Sphere is a Las Vegas landmark and is visible from the course. However, avoid hitting a bad shot in front of the sphere or risk being mocked, as happened to golf YouTuber Joey Coldcuts of Bob Does Sports.
A round at the Wynn will set you back quite a bit, running $800 before adding in the cost of a caddie if you choose to take one.
Shadow Creek Golf Course
Part of MGM Resorts, Shadow Creek is another iconic Tom Fazio-designed course in Vegas. If you’re expecting desert views, however, prepare to be disappointed. The course features lush greenery and trees, offering a change in scenery from most of Las Vegas.
Shadow Creek offers several challenging tee options that are great for serious golfers and weekend players. In fact, the overview of the course on their website features quotes from celebrities and PGA Tour players, highlighting each of their favorite holes.
Much like Wynn, Shadow Creek is quite expensive. Greens fees start at $1,250. In fact, it was the first course to charge more than $1,000 for green fees. Pricey, but worth it for fans of iconic golf architecture.
TPC Las Vegas
The former home of the Shriners Children's Open on the PGA Tour, TPC Las Vegas is designed for serious players as a place to play and practice during the off-season. However, with a fantastic restaurant onsite and great packages for different groups, there is an option for everyone.
In fact, TPC Las Vegas even offers a variety of sets of tees for players of different skill levels. That, along with the packages and access to all of their amenities, makes TPC Las Vegas a top course to visit.
Greens fees at the course start at $199, a great value compared to Shadow Creek and Wynn Golf Club.
Siena Golf Club
Another great option on the more affordable side, Siena Golf Club is a top option for those looking to play a round in Las Vegas. With prices under $200 for green fees, it is one of the more reasonable golf courses in the area. However, that doesn’t diminish the course.
While on the shorter side at less than 7,000 yards from the tips, the course still offers plenty of challenges even for better players. Additionally, those on a golf trip who are focused more on fun than a challenge have several different options for tees to play from.
Additionally, there is also footgolf available for non-golfers who are still looking for a fun activity while visiting Las Vegas.
Bali Hai Golf Club
Bali Hai Golf Club takes its caddie experience to the next level with Par Mates, which combines caddies and concierges to help you have a top experience both on and off the course. Like a traditional caddie, Par Mates keep your clubs clean, get yardages, help you find your golf ball off the tee, and can provide you with the right line for your big birdie putt. Beyond that, they also offer advice on activities for the rest of your trip to Vegas.
In addition to Par Mates, Bali Hai offers affordable twilight rates for those looking to avoid the desert heat when playing, and great stay-and-play packages that make a round of golf affordable for any golfer staying in Las Vegas.
What’s more, the course also features championship-level golf that will test golfers of all skill levels while still offering fun for those looking for a good time rather than a test of their game.
