It's been 30 years now since Tiger Woods made his debut at The Masters, tying for 41st as a 19-year-old in 1995 to take low amateur honors.
Again playing as an amateur in 1996, Woods missed the cut in his second appearance at Augusta National. And to this day, that's the only time Tiger has failed to make the weekend at The Masters.
Of course, everyone knows what Woods did in his first trip to Augusta as a professional in 1997, dusting the field by a record 12 strokes and shooting a then-record 18-under par to claim his first major championship.
In the years since, Tiger has added four more Masters victories to his Hall of Fame resume, completing the famed "Tiger Slam" in 2001, going back-to-back in 2002, defeating Chris DiMarco in a playoff in 2005, and ending a nearly 11-year major drought in 2019.
Woods is notably absent from Augusta this week, as the 49-year-old recently suffered a ruptured Achilles that will seemingly keep him from playing the other three major championships this season.
While it's always nice to see Tiger around these hallowed grounds, this is unfortunately nothing new in recent years. After making 19 consecutive starts at The Masters from 1995 to 2013, the 82-time PGA Tour winner has now missed the season's first major five times since.
Every Masters Tiger Woods has missed
Here's a quick look back at every Masters Tiger Woods has missed since his debut.
2014
After a fantastic 2013 campaign that saw Tiger take five victories, his back began giving him trouble in early 2014, forcing him to withdraw from The Honda Classic and even forcing him to skip the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, a tourney he'd won a record eight times.
Not long after the API, Tiger underwent a microdiscectomy to address a herniated disc and pinched nerve, which kept him from playing The Masters for the first time in his career.
2016
Tiger's back troubles continued in 2015, and he underwent a pair of surgeries late that year.
Unable to train, Woods not only missed The Masters in 2016, but he failed to appear in any official event, finally making his return at the Hero World Challenge in December.
2017
Tiger's return wouldn't last long.
After missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open in late January 2017, Woods withdrew from the DP World Tour's Omega Dubai Desert Classic the following week, once again due to back pain.
While cleared by doctors to play the 2017 Masters, Tiger chose not to tee it up at Augusta, saying he didn't feel "tournament ready."
Not long after, he announced that he'd undergone yet another surgical procedure on his back, which kept him out of action for most of the year until he again returned at the Hero World Challenge.
2021
In late February 2021, less than two years after winning his fifth green jacket, Woods was involved in a severe one-car accident that required him to undergo emergency surgery to repair compound fractures in his right leg and a shattered right ankle.
As such, Tiger missed out on The Masters for the fourth time in eight years and didn't play a competitive round until his trip to Augusta the following year.
2025
As mentioned, Tiger is absent from the 2025 Masters due to suffering a ruptured left Achilles while practicing in mid-March.
