On Monday night, Los Angeles was in a position to clinch a TGL playoff berth for back-to-back seasons. In consecutive weeks, they sent out their 'A' squad in Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose, and Collin Morikawa.
New York, needing a win and help to reach the playoffs, filled out its roster with Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Cameron Young.
Triples
As they have consistently done throughout the season, Los Angeles set the tone early by claiming the first lead of the match on the first hole. LA forced New York into declining a Hammer with only a seven-foot putt left for Collin Morikawa. New York would battle all night and responded quickly by winning the second hole after Los Angeles made a mess around the green. The next three holes were tied before Los Angeles would begin to pull away.
Los Angeles would take the lead on the sixth hole after Rickie Fowler's 7-iron found the penalty area. On the par-3 seventh, Justin Rose put his tee shot within three feet for a conceded birdie while Fitzpatrick missed his 18-foot birdie putt. Los Angeles would go on to win the eighth hole as well after another declined Hammer from New York. LA took a 4-1 lead heading into the match-play portion of the match.
Singles
New York did not throw in the towel on this match and made it a game beginning with Fowler's 7-iron to leave himself an eight-foot eagle opportunity. With Rose’s approach shot pending, New York saw an opening to gain two points with a Hammer, but Los Angeles declined, handing New York a point. The next three holes were halved as New York began to run out of time, trailing by two points with two holes to go.
On the 14th hole, Fitzpatrick kept New York’s season alive by draining a 24‑foot birdie putt, pulling them back within a single point of Los Angeles. New York would then throw their last Hammer, which would give them a victory if Young could beat Morikawa.
Unfortunately for New York, the drama ended quickly when Young hit his drive into the water, and Morikawa split the fairway. Young would ultimately concede the hole after missing his birdie putt, while Morikawa had only an eight-foot putt remaining for eagle.
Los Angeles ended up winning the match 6-3 and clinched the second seed in the playoffs. They will most likely tee off against the defending champions, Atlanta Drive GC. Los Angeles boasts one of the strongest teams in the league, with three of their golfers residing in the top five of the Official World Golf Ranking. They remain strong favorites to win this year's TGL cup, even as Boston has only lost one match.

Looking Ahead
The 2026 TGL season concludes on Tuesday night with a 'win and get in' match between the Bay Golf Club and Jupiter Links. On Sunday night, Jupiter put up a good showing against Boston but ultimately fell short. However, they left themselves an opportunity to win against the Bay and clinch the fourth seed of the playoffs with that overtime loss.
The Bay will be sending out Ludvig Aberg, Min Woo Lee, and Wyndham Clark for their last match of the season. Jupiter will respond with Max Homa, Tom Kim, and Kevin Kisner, who will step in to replace Akshay Bhatia. This match will take place on Tuesday night at 9:00 PM EST on ESPN.
