The 2025 Ryder Cup is just over three months away, as the United States and Europe will renew their rivalry from September 26-28 at famed Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. However, there are only roughly two months remaining for players to automatically qualify for this biennial battle, with six guaranteed slots available on each side.
On the American side of things, the last day for players to qualify is August 17, which marks the conclusion of the second leg of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup Playoffs, better known as the BMW Championship.
The last day for European players to qualify comes a week later on August 24 at the conclusion of the DP World Tour's Betfred British Masters.
And once the automatic spots are filled, captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald will each add six players to their respective squads.
Let's have a look at the standings on each side coming out of the U.S. Open.
United States Ryder Cup standings
In what should come as a surprise to absoultely nobody, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who's won three times this year, has already locked up his spot for the United States and holds a massive lead atop the standings with 26841.93 points.
Sitting in a distant second is the world's third-ranked player, Xander Schauffele, who's amassed 12430.45 points.
Heading into the U.S. Open, the third slot belonged to Bryson DeChambeau, who obviously can't accrue Ryder Cup points with LIV Golf but has still racked up 10318.00 thanks to his strong finishes in the majors over the last two seasons, minus his missed cut at Oakmont this past week, that is.
But Bryson now sits fourth, as U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun jumped 10 spots up the board into the No. 3 position with 11911.85 points.
Justin Thomas (9457.69) and Collin Morikawa (9410.01) hold the fifth and sixth slots, respectively, while Russell Henley was knocked out of the top six with Spaun's ascension.
The biggest move of the week was made by Cameron Young, who tied for fourth at Oakmont, marking his second straight T4 finish. Young now sits in 15th in the standings, up 13 slots from a week ago.
As for Keegan Bradley, who says he won't be a playing captain unless he qualifies automatically, he currently sits in 17th.

European Ryder Cup standings
As for the defending champs, Rory McIlroy is the lone player on the European team to have already locked up his spot at Bethpage, leading the way with 3040.95 points (things are calculated much differently on this side).
With a tie for fourth at the U.S. Open, Tyrrell Hatton has jumped from the fifth position to No. 2 with 1216.55, while Shane Lowry (1186.51) dropped from second to third after a dreadful week at Oakmont, shooting 79-78 to miss the cut by 10 shots.
Making his way into the automatic qualifying section this week is Robert MacIntyre (1176.23), whose solo-second finish at the U.S. Open vaulted him seven spots from No. 11 to No. 4.
Sepp Straka (1130.73) and Rasmus Højgaard (1072.33) rank fifth and sixth, respectively, while Tommy Fleetwood (976.43), Ludvig Åberg (888.23), Justin Rose (886.84), and Viktor Hovland (882.31), all of whom would assumingly be captain's picks if they don't get into the top six, round out the top 10.
