PGA Tour Power Rankings: Cognizant Classic

If we're being honest with ourselves, this field is only marginally better than Mexico.

6. Sungjae Im

This week is a make-or-break week for Sungjae in the rankings, at least for a little while. It's clear that we've hit a bit of a down stretch in Sungjae's game after finishing T4 at Farmers. However, if there's a place where we can find some form again, it'll be the home of Im's first victory in his Tour career. He's still an elite ball striker, when Im is on he can battle with anyone, and I think Im's skill around the greens will be able to help him find his way back up the leaderboard this week.

5. Daniel Berger

DB is straight VIBING once again, and that is a wonderful sight to see. The main thing that has been driving Berger's bounce back on Tour this year is, well, his driving. Berger currently sits 16th on Tour in strokes gained off the tee, what's holding Berger back is that he can't seem to get off to a good start to save his life. His round 1 scoring average this year (71.00) ranks 125th currently, so if he can just shave a couple strokes off of this average, then he should be able to truly compete this weekend.

4. Taylor Pendrith

If one number can be used as a catch-all stat to talk about the current skill of a golfer getting to the green, use the "Ball Striking" stat on the PGA Tour website. The stat is a composite of the ranking of a player's total driving rank (driving distance rank + driving accuracy rank) and their greens in regulation percentage rank. Currently, Taylor Pendrith sits 2nd on Tour in Ball Striking, with his drawback this year being his putter not being as strong as it has been in the past. Pendrith has been succeeding completely in spite of his putter this season, so if he can actually get a plus putting week, then Pendrith should be able to breakthrough for his first win this season.
