The men’s golf world shifts its focus from the links land to the lakes land.

The PGA Tour saddles up to the 3M Open this week at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.

Five of the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking are present for this penultimate regular season event on the schedule.

This venue formerly hosted a PGA Tour Champions event, the 3M Championship, until 2019. That’s when the PGA Tour stepped in.

TPC Twin Cities is an Arnold Palmer design with consultation from native son Tom Lehman. Lehman was instrumental in the course renovations prior to 2019.

It’s still a very scorable layout that plays to a par 71 at 7,431 yards.

The fairways are fairly expansive and bombers are usually welcome here. The greens tend to be receptive.

TPC Twin Cities’ biggest defense is water. Ironically, these are man-made ponds in the land of 10,000 lakes. This property used to be a sod farm.

Water lurks on 15 holes, so proper approach play is key to success at the 3M Open

Lee Hodges set the tournament scoring record of 24-under-par last year. Usually, getting into the upper teens under par will get you in contention.

The weather forecast shows temperatures in the 60s to upper 80s Fahrenheit with chances of rain early in the week during practice rounds and perhaps late on the weekend. It could be a little breezy with gusts into the teens miles per hour.

Let’s see which 10 players are best equipped to make a late season surge at the 3M Open:
