Scottie Scheffler has been a stalwart at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

In three starts at Bay Hill, the Texan has finished T-15th (67-74-75-75) in 2020, won (70-73-68-72) in U.S. Open-like conditions in 2021 and was in the mix last year en route to T-4th (68-72-68-73).

“When you get on such difficult golf courses like this, you just have to kind of keep your head down and know that mistakes are going to come,” Scheffler was transcribed in 2022 by ASAP Sports, “you're going to get bad breaks, you're going to hit really good shots that turn out really bad. And it's just stuff that can happen out here just because the golf course is so difficult.”

Scheffler comes into the week hungry for a win. His victory at the 20-man Hero World Challenge exhibition in December may have scratched the itch a little bit, getting it done at a Signature Event would be a lot more satisfying.

Scheffler’s last official win came at last year’s Players Championship. He’s still played tremendous golf in the interim and continues to be an elite ball striker.

The 27-year-old hasn’t finished worse than T-17th in five starts in 2024. Scheffler peaked at T-3rd at the WM Phoenix Open. His best at a Signature Event was T-6th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Scheffler ranks second on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Total (2.032). He continues to be an out-of-this-world ball striker, ranking first in SG: Tee-to-Green (2.44) and first in SG: Approach (1.308).

Perhaps rain in the forecast this week can slow down the greens and make life easier on his putter.
