2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational: Top 10 power rankings at Bay Hill
Xander Schauffele is teeing it up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational for just the third time in his career.
The Californian has skewed toward playing more West Coast swing events this time of the year, but it’s hard to pass up the API under the PGA Tour’s new schedule structure.
Schauffele has posted modest results at Bay Hill. He debuted in T-24th (73-74-72-74) in 2020 and added T-39th in 2023. Schauffele was in the mix heading into the weekend last year with rounds of 68-70 before the challenging layout got the best of him to close in 75-76.
“....the course is really hard. I think 5-under won [in 2022],” Schauffele was transcribed in 2023 by ASAP Sports. “It's always very difficult … it's very much an execution-style golf course versus a plotting-style golf course. So with the wind up I imagine it being very difficult.”
Schauffele’s been one of the best players on the planet without a win in 2024. The former San Diego State Aztec has racked up four top-10s, including T-4th in his last start a couple weeks ago at the Genesis Invitational.
Schauffele’s high-water mark this year was T-3rd at The American Express.
The X Man ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in SG: Total (1.63). He hasn’t been too sharp with the putter, but his tee-to-green game has been immaculate. He’s second in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green (1.864), 10th in SG: Off-the-Tee (.672), 12th in SG: Approach (.707) and 15th in SG: Around-the-Green (.485).
