Golf Power Rank/Pebble/2. 2. OWGR: 14th. FedEx Cup: 8th. Jordan Spieth
Counting the 2019 U.S. Open exclusively at Pebble Beach, Spieth has never missed a cut on Carmel Bay in 11 appearances.
The Texan’s triumph came at the 2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am when he blitzed the field for a four-shot victory.
He opened with a 3-under 68 at Monterey Peninsula before really heating up at Spyglass Hill with 7-under 65 and at Pebble Beach with 7-under 65 and a Sunday bogey-free 70 where he took few risks and coasted to victory.
“What's not to love as a golfer here?” Spieth asked rhetorically in 2021, as transcribed by ASAP Sports. “So I've loved this tournament, obviously finding success at this tournament has been really, really cool, just as a golf lover and someone who enjoys the history and the architecture of golf courses. So I'm happy that it's been good to me over the years.”
He finished T-3rd at the Pro-Am in 2021 and took solo second a year later.
Spieth is a solid pick at this event regardless of current form.
It’s an even better pick given how he looked in his 2024 debut. Spieth posted 66-67-67-65 to finish solo third and just two shots back at The Sentry.
With three weeks off since then, Spieth should be rearing to go for a busy stretch of golf as part of the buildup to Augusta.
