2024 BMW Championship: Top 10 power rankings at Castle Pines GC
Top ten contenders at the 2024 BMW Championship
10) Rory McIlroy
McIlroy lost 2.4 strokes to the field last week.
At The Olympics in his previous outing, he gained 3.02 strokes -- it has been Jekyll and Hyde as of late.
But it would be short-sighted to leave him off this list.
His driver is typically his greatest weapon, but he has struggled with accuracy off the tee all season, ranking just 83rd on tour in driving accuracy. It is especially crucial that he is straight off the tee this week, as the rough is penal at Castle Pines.
When things start bad for the Northern Irishman, they tend to get worse, as demonstrated by his second-to-last finish at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The duality of McIlroy has been well-documented throughout his career. There is no telling which version will show up this week, but one thing is certain: he cannot possibly putt worse than he did last week.
9) Wyndham Clark
It's been a roller coaster ride for Clark since his win at Pebble Beach earlier this year, but he is right at home this week-- literally.
A Denver native, he graduated from nearby Valor Christian; just 12 miles away from Castle Pines Golf Club. He estimates that he has played Castle Pines GC 25-30 times, and there is no doubt that he will have overwhelming support from the gallery this week.
And don't look now, but Clark is starting to rediscover his golf swing. In his last five events, Clark has four finishes inside the top 14, with the outlier being a missed cut at Royal Troon. He can beat anybody at his best, and a T7 last week -- his best finish since the RBC Heritage in April -- could not have come at a better time.
In a week where unfamiliarity is ubiquitous, Clark stands out as an anomaly.
