As the legendary Elvis Presley once said, "Memphis is the greatest city in the world. It’s home, and it always will be."

This week, the PGA Tour descends on the Birthplace of Rock and Roll.

TPC Southwind, located in Southeast Memphis, will play host to the premiere event of the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoffs, the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

The field is composed of the top 70 players in the FedEx Cup Standings and will not have a cut. Of those 70, the top 50 will advance to next week's BMW Championship.

The Ron Prichard design has hosted PGA Tour tournaments yearly since 1989. Like Sedgefield CC, TPC Southwind is famous for its minuscule, firm, and fast Bermuda greens. Its main defense lies in the thick Bermuda rough as well as water hazards that loom on seven of the eighteen holes. Thus, accuracy off the tee will be paramount as players must avoid the hazards and penal rough to find success.

As a par 70 and at 7,243 yards, TPC Southwind is around tour average in terms of length. It is a fairly straightforward design that players are used to seeing in Florida courses such as TPC Sawgrass and PGA National.

Past winners include players that are more precision-based, such as Lucas Glover and Will Zalatoris, but also heavy hitters like Brooks Koepka and Dustin Johnson. Players with a variety of skill sets can compete at this venue.

"It's not super tricked up. Everything is right there in front of you... I just think it's a genius golf course," said reigning FedEx Cup Champion, Viktor Hovland.

TPC Southwind places a premium on approach shots from 125-200 yards as well as accuracy off the tee, so players who excel in both areas will be at an advantage.
