The PGA Tour joins forces with the DP World Tour for this week’s Genesis Scottish Open.

This event originated in 1972, was upgraded to a DP World Tour Rolex Series event in 2017, and has been co-sanctioned since 2022. It’s traditionally been held the week prior to The Open Championship as an introduction into the type of links golf players will see at the ensuing major championship.

The Renaissance Club is a Tom Doak design in North Berwick that has hosted this event since 2019. It also hosted the 2020 Ladies Scottish Open.

TRC plays at 7,237 yards for a par 70. It’s not a long course, especially if conditions allow for it to play firm and fast.

Shot creativity is important both this week and next. If the wind is up, as it’s prone to be, maintaining a low ball flight and being calculated on where you land your ball is important.

The fescue greens tend to run slow. For PGA Tour players, that can be a bit of a shock to the system and doesn’t necessarily make things easier to roll in putts.

This week’s field numbers at 156 and is split between DP World Tour and PGA Tour members.

Weather for the week looks downright nasty. Rain is in the forecast virtually every day for practice and tournament rounds. Temperatures are expected to hold steady in the 50s Fahrenheit. That’s links golf, baby!

Grab your haggis, blood pudding, and umbrellas and settle in for this week’s power rankings:
