It’s tractor time on the PGA Tour. The 53rd edition of the John Deere Classic is upon us

The event began as the Quad Cities Open and went through a handful of name changes until the current title sponsor came aboard in 1999.

That’s when TPC Deere Run became the host venue for the John Deere Classic.

This tree-lined, parkland-style course is a D.A. Weibring design currently measuring 7,257 yards and playing at a par 71.

It’s a course that’s very scoreable when playing from the fairway. The spacious greens are typically soft and slow. If you’re off line off the tee or on approach, there’s plenty of water, woods, or other hazards to penalize.

This event benefits from its newfound status being two weeks prior to The Open Championship as opposed to its usual spot the week prior. Granted, that hasn’t changed the field strength a ton. Big names would have to play three weeks in a row with a big event next week in the Genesis Scottish Open.

However, as you’ll see in the power rankings, there are some newcomers in tow this week who the galleries will be delighted to see. There are some old, familiar faces as well.

The weather forecast shows a chance for rain on Tuesday and Thursday, but otherwise, it looks to be a pleasant week with temperatures ranging from mid-60s to mid-80s Fahrenheit without a ton of wind. As usual, the course should be lush and soft and scores ought to be low.

Let’s dive into this week’s top 10, shall we?
