J.T. Poston has had quite the reversal of fortune at the John Deere Classic in recent years.

His first five trips to the Quad Cities resulted in two missed cuts and two finishes outside the top 60.

Then, in 2022, Poston won the whole dang thing. The West Carolina University grad posted 62-65-67-69 to win by three in wire-to-wire fashion.

“Obviously this is such a great community. I've said it for several years now, even before winning, that it just feels like home,” Poston was transcribed by ASAP Sports in June at the tournament media day. “I'm a North Carolina guy, and I feel like the community kind of matches where I grew up, and I've always had a lot of support. So I love coming back, and I'm definitely looking forward to being back this year.”

Poston carded four more sub-70 rounds last year en route to T-6th. He was second in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (7.273) and 13th in SG: Around-the-Green (2.548).

The 31-year-old is quietly having a nice year with four top-10s. Three of them came in signature events: T-5th at The Sentry, T-10th at the Genesis Invitational, and T-5th at the RBC Heritage.

That top-five at Harbour Town bodes well for TPC Deere Run, where driving accuracy is key. It’s also not a long course, another notch in Poston’s favor given his 151st ranking on the PGA Tour in driving distance (289.5 yards) through June 23.

Poston is top-50 in SG Around-the-Green and SG: Putting. He’s 10th in driving accuracy (71.71%) and 29th in birdie average (4.08 per round).
