Jason Day was scheduled to make his first appearance in the Quad Cities in over a decade in 2022. He eventually withdrew due to injury.

The Aussie is back to give it a go at the site of his first PGA Tour start.

The fresh-faced 19-year-old teed it up here on a sponsor’s exemption in 2006, making the cut and finishing T-67th.

Day has made the cut in all five appearances at TPC Deere Run. The highlights were back-to-back T-15th finishes in 2009 (66-68-68-69) and 2010 (66-71-66-69).

Another memorable moment was in the final round in 2011. Day was playing solo as the first man off. He heard chatter from the galleries wondering how quickly Day would finish his round. Day made it a goal to get to the clubhouse in under two hours while shooting even par or lower.

Both goals were met, carding even-par 71 in a cool hour and 55 minutes on the way to finishing T-68th. That was the last time Day made it to Silvis.

He’s back this week following a week off after posting T-44th at the Travelers Championship.

It’s been a bit of an up-and-down season for Day. He opened 2024 with three top-10s in his first five starts, all of which came at Signature Events.

Day went without a top-10 in his next six starts before bouncing back at another Sig Event, grabbing a season-best T-4th at the Wells Fargo Championship.

Day has also made the cut at two of three majors.

He’s having an excellent season on the greens, ranking ninth on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting (.592). Day has always had a great short game and is 30th in scrambling (63.76%).
