Sungjae Im is looking to make it 3-for-3 playing the weekend at the John Deere Classic.

The South Korean finished T-26th (68-67-67-70) in his 2019 debut and followed with T-47th (68-67-69-72) in 2021.

Im got off to a slow start to 2024 but has been in excellent form since spring. He began his roll with a T-12th at a Signature Event, the RBC Heritage. Next week, he won on the Korean Tour at the Woori Financial Group Championship for the second straight year. Not the most prestigious of events, but it portended more success back in the U.S.

After a week off to recoup from the jet lag, Im posted T-4th at another Sig Event, the Wells Fargo Championship.

A T-9th at Colonial and T-8th at another Sig Event, the Memorial Tournament, padded his wallet.

We last saw the 26-year-old in action rack up another high finish at a Sig Event, grabbing T-3rd at the Travelers Championship with four rounds of 67 or lower.

Im would love to dial up another 72-hole total of 260 and see where that slots him this week at TPC Deere Run. That would equate to 21-under, the exact tally that produced a champion in three of the last four playings.

Im ranks 27th on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (.385) and is a good fairway finder at 39th (66.67%). He’s also 37th in birdie average (4.05).

It’s hard to believe the two-time PGA Tour champ hasn’t hoisted a trophy since 2021. This is a golden opportunity for Im to hit peak form prior to representing his country in the Olympics.
