2024 Masters: Top 10 power rankings at Augusta National
There was a host of names in consideration for the 10th spot this week.
It feels like banging your head against the wall continuing to trust Patrick Cantlay at the majors. However, Iâm giving him credit for a solid showing at last yearâs Masters.
Rounds of 71-71-68 had him in solo fourth heading into Sunday. A closing 75 dropped him to T-14th, but it was still a promising showing.
The former UCLA Bruin has now made five of seven cuts at Augusta National. He briefly led on Sunday in 2019 en route to T-9th (73-73-64-68). Cantlay also took T-17th (70-66-73-72) in 2020.
âI think, for the most part, my game plan hasn't changed much, but just feeling comfortable and getting some momentum around here,â Cantlay was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2020. âThe same guys seem to play well here every year, and I think part of that is you just get good feelings here, and you come back every year. I'm just trying to build those good feelings.â
He made the cut in all four majors last year. Cantlay posted T-9th at the PGA Championship and T-14th at the U.S. Open.
The 32-year-old comes into the week well-rested with his last start coming four weeks ago at the Players Championship. Cantlay wasnât his best on the Florida swing but looked solid on the West Coast. He finished T-11th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and T-4th at the Genesis Invitational.
Cantlay is 19th on the PGA Tour this season in birdies per round (4.52).
