2024 Masters: Top 10 power rankings at Augusta National
Cam Smith’s best golf was prior to his exodus to LIV, but he’s still a dangerous player around Augusta National.
I’m not too worried about his 55th place finish last week at LIV Miami given that Trump Doral is a far cry from Augusta National.
Smith’s crafty shotmaking, short game, and ability to tame speedy greens are facets that should help him play well at the Masters as long as he’s qualified.
In seven strolls down Magnolia Lane, the Aussie has made every cut and owns four top-10s. Just a couple years ago, he posted T-3nd (68-74-68-73) and was in the mix heading into Sunday.
Smith also posted four rounds in the 60s in 2020 for T-2nd (67-68-69-69).
“I love the golf course,” Smith was transcribed by ASAP Sports in 2021. “I just love the shots that it makes you hit. It just really suits my eye. So there's no reason why I can't win here. It's just everything's got to come together one week a year, and I'm sure I'll be up there.”
Prior to Miami, Smith flashed good form at the previous event, taking third in Hong Kong.
The 30-year-old is tops on LIV in putting average (1.49 per GIR) and 14th in birdies per round (4.85).
He’s coming off a stellar 2023 majors season where he was T-34th at the Masters, T-9th at the PGA Championship, solo fourth at the U.S. Open, and T-33rd at the Open Championship.
