2024 Masters: Top 10 power rankings at Augusta National
Brooks Koepka is looking for redemption after coming oh so close to earning his first green jacket in 2023.
He was the 54-hole leader and appeared in control before Jon Rahm wrested away the title with a dazzling final round. Koepka, meanwhile, faltered with a Sunday 75 after opening in 65-67-73.
Koepka may not show it week to week in standard PGA Tour or LIV tournaments, but he’s a different beast at the majors. His ball striking becomes impeccable and he makes the game look easy while others crumble under the pressure.
He detailed his strategy to get around Augusta National:
“I mean, a lot of the times, you're just trying to find the uphill putt out here,” Koepka was transcribed by ASAP Sports prior to the 2019 Masters, “and if you hit a lot of greens and leave yourself some uphill putts, you're going to have some good chances.”
Koepka’s T-2nd finish last year was his second runner-up at the Masters along with T-2nd (66-71-69-70) in 2019. As many remember, that was Tiger Woods’ stunning Masters victory.
This will be Koepka’s ninth Masters appearance. He’s made six cuts with three top-10s and a T-11th.
Koepka finished 46th last week in a dismal showing at LIV Miami. In his previous four starts this year, he had never finished worse than 28th.
Whether he won last week or was DFL, the slate’s wiped clean this week. Major championship Brooks is now on the scene and will be a threat to win the green jacket.
